Kerri Tharp Selected as Assistant Principal at Harvest Ridge Elementary

The Francis Howell School District has announced that Kerri Tharp has been selected as the new assistant principal at Harvest Ridge Elementary School, effective July 1, 2020. Tharp currently serves as the administrative intern at Harvest Ridge.

Tharp is honored to accept the position as assistant principal at Harvest Ridge. “I am passionate about our staff, students, and families and am proud to serve our school organization in this new role,” said Tharp. “I look forward to working as a unified team to enhance the success of our amazing students. My heart swells with Hawkpride!”

Tharp joined the FHSD family in 2018 as the administrative intern at Harvest Ridge but has also been the administrative intern for the FHSD Summer Success Program. As an administrative intern, she has successfully managed multiple responsibilities involving school improvement, attendance, classroom observations, teacher evaluations, restorative behavior management, discipline, staffing, and before and after-school supervision. She has led the Attendance Committee, PBIS Committee, and the Safety and Operations Committee. She also was instrumental in the organization of the weekly, school-wide morning meetings that emphasized school expectations and attendance goals.

Tharp began her career as a fifth-grade teacher in the Harrisburg Community Unit School District in Illinois, where she taught for five years before moving to the Edwardsville Unit School District to teach first grade. She also served in several roles in the Muscatine Community School District including as an eighth-grade social studies/English language arts teacher, curriculum professional development leader – humanities, and instructional coach. She also was the Iowa Department of Education’s middle school standards writing team.

Tharp has a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Southeast Missouri State University, as well as a Master of Science in elementary education from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville and a Master of Science in educational leadership from Wester Illinois University.
